Great product. Fast, efficient. Only draw back for me is cost. $64 per state on top of federal w a little pricey. But, this is America and supply and demand conquer. HAHA

Product is mediocre and getting worse

One of my worst years with TT so far. The time estimate is woefully inaccurate. (Took me 6+ hours despite an estimate of 1hr 32min) Getting any kind of help with apparent inaccuracies is very difficult -- from the actual product it just wanted to upsell me. I had to go find the support forums and even then it was non-trivial. Thankfully lots of folks had the same annoyance as me so I was able to find something. The TL;DR on that is that the 'Effective Tax Rate' they show you as part of the summary is somewhere between outright wrong to definitely misleading and it's useless regardless. I've used TT for years at this point but I think I will seriously look into other options for 2025.

What Happened?

I have used this product for over 20 years. I have always found it to be an excellent product, until this year. What used to be so easy to use has become cumbersome and difficult to use. I hope you review and look at previous versions to fine tune this new application. If I am being honest, I think next year I will likely look for an alternative unfortunately.

Very good but needs better guidance for some forms

Generally speaking it's great. It makes the tax return process far easier and less painful than it would otherwise be. There is some room for improvement though. Sometimes you are sent to forms to fill out and there is no explanation for why and how to fill out the form. This is really essential to make the process as painless as possible and to have confidence you're filing the tax return properly. Don't send users to pages to fill out forms they have no idea how to deal with.

Turbo Tax was thorough in finding deductions in our returns, even though our returns are somewhat difficult because of our working situations. It does take some time, but I feel good about our filing.
