I'm a sucker due to history but too expensive

I have been using TurboTax since 1996. I believe it has become much too expensive. I don't like that it frequently tries to sell extra features and sometimes it is a little misleading as to what is truly needed.
I do like that it can import information from the previous year. That is helpful in speeding up the process and preventing mistakes.
Sometimes I can't remember which path I chose in answering the guided questions, so every year I am nervous that I might make a mistake. It would be nice if there was an option to see "last year you chose xxx, do you want to prepare you tax using that choice this year?"
It was nice that I could import forms from accounts, but I am wary of connecting things like that to my Intuit account. Some of the company history has not built confidence that I can trust the integrity of my data with Intuit. The frequent attempts to upsale and shady seeming deals like pay us $35 to get your refund up to 5 days earlier makes the company reputation a bit shallow.
It seemed like this year it imported some forms twice. That made it very confusing when I got to the review process and could not figure out why it would not let me proceed. There were double entries of a 1099-NEC and 1099's from brokerage accounts. I was very nervous about deleting because I wasn't sure where they had come from or if they truly were just duplicates.

Turbo tax is OK

I have used TT for several years and had no issues until this year. For some reason, my 1099's from Schwab had difficulty entering information such as payer and payee addresses. I engaged with one of the live experts and they could not help me. She suggested I delete the information and enter it by hand. This did work but took me a lot of extra time in re-entering info.
