TurboTax is a great value

I filed with TurboTax last year and it seemed much easier. I feel that it is very economical, but it cycled me through the same things time after time.

Finally considering switching to another tool...

I've been using TurboTax for as long as I can remember (since it used to actually be free?). The product is good and easy to use but it's gotten more sneakily expensive over the years and I don't appreciate how they sort of lock you into having to pay so many fees with your return, or try to coax you into buying new features every other step.

They make it seem like free, then charge you a $160 fee because of stocks or investments. I won't use this next time because of it.

A Bit Deceptive

The process is fairly quick and somewhat easy but I'm very unhappy with the fact that they wait until I'm all finished to tell me I have to pay $119, plus $59 per state, plus a $40 processing fee. Every time throughout filing when I was asked if I wanted to "upgrade" for X-amount of dollars I declined, and the "continued without upgrade" option I chose made it look like I was continuing for free. I understand things need to cost money. That's fine. But don't make it look like it's free if it's not.
