An honest appraisal of TurboTax

TurboTax is decent. The program doesn't make filling out taxes completely transparent -- and you can't see your returns until you've paid. Also, you still need to have some understanding about the terminology to make sense of what information or data you're being asked to provide. Not sure it's worth the price compared to the free services available for some filers through the IRS. But we're used to it, so we're sticking it with at least for this year. Also, you need to watch out that you're not giving the company permission to provide your details to marketers or to upgrade your subscription with services you may not want or need.

This services should not exist. You are taking advantage of people by lobbying that you should exist to Congress. You are milking us for money when the government has ALL the information it needs about us to tax us.
