Upsell, shady attempts at PII access, refund loans

TurboTax continues to get worse and worse with the upselling, trying to trick me to hand over my Personal Information even though it has nothing to do with filing a tax return, and trying to sell refund loans as an alternative to simply getting a loan. The final screen that provides options for how to get my refund has gotten even trickier this year. I've been a customer for nearly 2 decades but I am getting tired of it and will be seriously considering moving to a different preparer next year because of the games.

in review section you show me forms to correct when you have made out the forms ( ie 179 carryovers). Then your software doesn't allow me to go back to the line items to check the correct total. Why am I seeing any forms at all. This is especially frustrating. Then it says see tax help and I can't find tax help anywhere on your screen.

A Tax On The Right To Pay Taxes.

You guys are the absolute worst. You should have never been allowed to buy Credit Karma. I hate constantly being upsold on different things I don’t need. I hate being forced to buy premium just because I had a few small investments (resulting in losses) on Robinhood last year. I made 5000 in wages last year and now I have to pay 100 dollars just to file my taxes. You really need to leave poor people like me alone and not charge them 100 dollars just so they can tell the IRS that they didn’t make any money last year. I hate the constant feeling of invasion of privacy. You are an evil corporation who somehow manages to exist as a middleman collecting and additional tax for the right to pay real taxes through you. You really shouldn’t exist. CreditKarma was just fine until you bought it. There was nothing invasive, time-wasting, manipulative, or pushy. You took a great service and destroyed it.

Turbotax is nice but can improve

I filed tax with Turbo Tax software (store bought) which I downloaded and filed. But you were not able to pull that info and I was required to enter AGI. I wasn't able to pull that out of your website either. Thankfully I hadn't deleted the software and was able to retrieve the necessary file. Super disappointing experience.
I also I had to go back and reload forms multiple times because the OCR software brought in the wrong city and state info and wouldn't let me edit it.
