Turbo Tax is Expensive

I am a full time student working as an Emergency Medical Technician part time. I was charged $150 to file my simple Federal and State returns.

I like the convenience of Turbo Tax, I have used them for many years. They ask questions & have help pages some have info I already know, others had a few I didn't. this year I didn't know what they were looking for but was able to figure it out.
Why I gave them a 4 star rating is the in ap ads. Turbo tax advertises free filing, return customers get free filing. yet I pay. then I start filling out my forms and I get oh, for $49 .. $59 you can have this or that.. oh for $49 you can file your state taxes .. shouldn't the 1st state be part of the filing? If I choose no don't file my state taxes I can't print off my state taxes to mail it in.
I understand upselling, I do. But it seems over the top.
