Turbotax was just OK this year.

It asked me a bunch of questions with no guidance. I had to use AI to figure out what it meant. Turbotax was telling me to change check boxes on forms but would not allow me to change them. Not sure why it was so glitchy this year.

I think Turbo Tax is a SCAM

I think Turbo Tax is a scam. It is public knowledge that Intuit lobbies our legislators to prevent return-free filing from getting off the ground. All of these services can and should be free, as far as I'm concerned, just like in so many other countries. Plus a million other little attempts to nickel and dime you. Hiding the free file version. Quietly adding in a $40 service fee to pay using your federal refund (glad I caught that and went back to use my CC). God knows what else. I've only used Turbo Tax the last few years out of a sense of inertia, each year with just a big enough wrinkle in my filing status to make me unsure if I would be able to accurately file my returns on my own. I will take steps this year to ensure that this will be the last year I use their services, and I will avoid Intuit products like the plaque going forward. (But that's just my opinion.)
