The feature that showed current returns was taken out, it used to be a fun and useful feature to be aware of the current numbers.
The UI was also a little more difficult to figure out this year and we were being asked questions that did not pertain to our income this year but it was difficult to figure out why. We were asked if our car or house werebeing used for business but it was not applicable.
Major flaw is the inability to enter non-1099-T room and board expenses (e.g., off campus) when entering 1099-Q or 1099-T data. I kept going back to each section and could not find a way to enter. There was only the ability to enter books and fees. I had to run the return, SEE the excess 529 distribution and then go BACK into Turbo Tax to enter. At that point, there was an edit section to enter the room and board. There was no warning during the review about excess 529 distributions and suggestion to re-visit and question about room and board. I can imagine many people trusting that Turbo Tax identified all deductions and this is a MAJOR miss as most students at some point have expenses not reported on 1099-T. Also, it would be nice to click into the return as you go to see what the impact is after completing each section vs waiting until the end. I would be willing to pay earlier to have this access (I can understand not wanting to show the return until payment is made).
