YAY for TurboTax

TurboTax makes it so easy to file federal and state tax returns. I remember doing them by hand and it was so painful if you had anything out of the ordinary. Thank you Intuit for making this time of year a little easier.

Beware this rare glitch!

Although I am a customer of +20 yrs this was the first time I used the online product, as opposed to downloading the program to my computer. The operating differences are a little disorienting, but the BIG difference is that at the end of the process TT will not let you e-file (!) because it says (incorrectly) that it has no record of you e-filing the year before. Took three calls to customer service to iron this out and save the time invested to that point. Turns out that if you used TT's desktop software last year, TT doesn't know that and it stops you cold.

Intuit Lobbies to Make Taxation More Complex :( :(

Turbo Tax (Intuit) lobbies to keep our tax system complicated, so you are basically reliant on their services to navigate the complexity. It is very apparent that the good user experience and fast snappy filing is just a way for them to make more money off you.
Taxation in the United States should not be an industry. Period.
Think about it. Why should people make money off being the middlemen for what the government knows we owe? Why should they get money for us simply paying taxes? Adding to the burden?
Pros: My employment status changed this year
