I’ve been using TurboTax for years and have been very happy with the process and outcomes each year. I even added 1099 income this year and they made it a piece of cake!

TurboTax almost seriously let us down this year

In years past we've found TurboTax a relatively easy and smooth process. This year, though, TurboTax took us on a path (both of us watching each step) that double entered a bank's interest income which would have reduced our refund if we hadn't noticed it. Strangely, TT recognized one of the banking institutions but then did not offer it as a selection, so we had to enter it manually. Seeing it was much easier than importing the data, we did the same on the other institution for which we almost double-paid tax.
TurboTax didn't even question that two interest incomes were identical in the institution and amount. Then, at the very end, we were guided through a process in which we paid for the TurboTax service (as usual) and ended on a page that made us believe that our tax returns had been filed. But when we tried to find the missing step to allow us to print a copy of the returns, we discovered they had not yet been filed. If we had left it when we thought we were done, we would could have double paid interest earned taxes and would have not yet actually filed! Maybe this should have been a one-star review considering the seriousness of these issues but it did save us a lot of time.
It is also exceedingly tiresome to get upsell requests so many times.
