This was my first year using the on-line version. It was not a very satisfying experience. The first issue is that the software told me that I would need to either upload a PDF of my 1099-B or mail a hard copy. However, all attempts to upload the PDF failed. This was discussed with a TurboTax phone assister who indicated that there was no way to upload a PDF. So why did the software request it?
Also, I had purchased the Deluxe software. When I got to the 1099-B entry, it said that I had to upgrade to Premier at an additional cost of $89. I have used Deluxe for years and my tax situation had always included 1099-B information so why the need for Premier. I felt like I had been ripped off.
Half the time it took to file was spent declining all of their upsells that they automatically select for you, and you have to go through and manually decline them each time.
