I like the previous versions better.

Fairly easy to use, although I do not understand all of the tax form information. Also, I have been paying 1040-ES payments with Turbo Tax software for many years, but Turbo Tax did not flag these payments while I was filling out the 2025 forms. I had to bring this to Turbo Tax's attention and then had to go back and include these payments. Fortunately, your chat program was able to help me. Frankly, I thought your previous versions were easier to use and I felt that everything was covered more completely.
Sailed through the tax ordeal. I'm not sure I like the on-line version better because the details in the earlier version were easier to access to go over ore make edits. This is great if you are in a hurry.
I recently filed my taxes using TurboTax, and the California state filing fee experience was… honestly confusing. TurboTax kept showing a $59 state filing fee throughout the process, even though I was using a promotional offer that supposedly included one free federal and one free state return.
Here’s the problem:
In the middle of the workflow, TurboTax repeatedly displayed the $59 fee
It looked like I was going to be charged no matter what
There was no clear indication that the promotion would override the fee later
The UI made it feel like I was being upsold or misled
But then, at the final checkout screen, the fee suddenly disappeared:
Premium upgrade: $0
California state return: $0
State filing fee: $0
Total: $0
So the promotion did apply — but only at the very end.
What I didn’t like The inconsistent pricing throughout the process
The anxiety of thinking I’d be charged $59
The lack of transparency about when the promotion actually applies
The feeling that TurboTax intentionally keeps the fee visible to push upgrades
What actually happened In the end, I wasn’t charged anything. But the experience was stressful and unnecessarily confusing.
Final thoughts TurboTax needs to fix the way it displays state filing fees. If a promotion removes the fee, that should be clear from the beginning — not hidden until the last step. The product works, but the pricing UI feels manipulative and creates distrust.
Said it would take 1h 42m. It took 6 hours, wouldn't let me pay with my refund, turbo tax locked me out of my 2024 return statement (although it is saved to my desktop), couldn't even purchase a new copy of 2024 because Turbo Tax hides older versions, kept asking me to sell my information to them for free and randomly checked boxes that would violate my privacy after I unchecked them. 0/10
Allow us to enter non-integer/non-decimal fields in forms like 1099-B that can possibly have that as value. The cost of this product is astronomical for the quality of software code, service, and features you get.
