This time around it got tangled. It kept asking about royalties before filing. I had no royalties. I had to delete and redo the rental income section to fix that. The help and AI bot were useless.
Fast and relatively painless (it's taxes afterall)

I used a different tax software for a few years, but I came back to TurboTax because it is so user friendly and always makes sure I am getting the refund I deserve! (Or paying if necessary). I love how they explain things and I find it easy to do taxes for my family. I was able to get state and federal done in a little over 2 hours - and with donations, investments, childcare funds, etc. etc, I always feel like TurboTax makes sure I get it all in! I gather all the forms I get mailed before starting, but will log in to my accounts at other institutions as needed for digital copies. I do wish the scan worked on my phone, but I have an old phone and many apps don't work on it. That's my only negative.
I so appreciate being walked through everything step by step and getting to go back so easily, jump between subjects, review things multiple times, everything is user friendly and removes the stress of taxes. This time i found the little support blurbs or links explaining a subject incredibly helpful and easy to understand.
I got hung up on a couple of places. After importing a 1099R and making needed changes, I realized I had entered some things incorrectly, and attempted to edit it. The edits did not influence the document, and the review process kept finding the thing I thought I had corrected. I was only able to be successful by deleting the entire 1099R, and reentering it entirely. Also entering data for the 1116 form for Foreign income tax was difficult and confusing.
