It's a decent service but I do not like the upcharges for a return to add a simple form to the return. Prices should be reflected at the start and not after you take the time to process and fill everything out. This feels like a money-grabbing technique and makes me want to find another service to use next year. There should not be a fifty-dollar upcharge to add 4 pages on a return.
The amount of popups related to upselling me was insane. Also adding investments to a tax return makes it 'complicated' and now I have to fork over $90 so you can handle it? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Also, it's nearly impossible to remove forms that were done previously. The only reason the site gets 2 stars is because it does work well in uploading tax document info, except for the issues mentioned above.
I've used TurboTax for years, but this year was extremely frustrating. The changes to the software made it very difficult to use. I'm a retired accountant with a Masters Degree and I had a miserable morning doing what should have been an easy task. I will probably search for different software next year!!!!
I like Turbo Tax but the concepts are too deep that it is hard to understand if you've gotten then right answer. However, for the most part, it walks you through step by step.
The calculations of RMD with more than 1 account was now very intuitive. We had RMD on 2 different accounts each, but only withdrew funds from one account each. The notes said they could be combined but there was no clear expiation how to do that.
