I uploaded my scanned 1099-R forms instead of typing in the information. The program then asked me to review to ensure the information was correct, which I did and the information was correct. During the state review, it asked me to type the 1099-R information in again, which I did. Then on the next review, I had to delete duplicate 1099-Rs. Thank goodness there are other choices for filing my taxes next year.
This is my first year to use TurboTax rather than a competing product. I used TurboTax to confirm if the application applies back-end fees to process the filing and refunds. As in other Tax preparation solutions, TurboTax adds the back-end fees, regardless of the claims to offer free filing. Users need to be sure to review the fine print and disclaimers.
Turbo tax should not allow more than one 1099-div to be entered from the exact same payer name. Each should be differentiated so that when questions are asked later about a specific 1099-div the person entering knows which 1099 is being referred to. I entered incorrect info assuming it was for the wrong 1099. The only way I could correct it was to delete the 1099 income entry and reenter it. Then I added 1 & 2 as part of the names. It's good that Turbotax displays the running tax balance, because an abrupt shift was what alerted me that the entry was inaccurate. Overall, I will continue to use TURBOTAX.
Turbo Tax does not recognize Providence RI valid zip code. The valid zip code of 09240 needs added into the system. VERY Frustrating to get to the end and can't submit nor fix without going back, deleting form and manually entering.
