Taxes are Tough! With TT they're less tiresome.

Most of TurboTax is good. I have a pretty simple financial life so it's good to be able to prepare my taxes in the comfort and privacy of my own home without having to pay a professional in an office. However, it gets very frustrating when the program keeps sending me around in circles and I can't figure out what it wants from me. Also, the feature of being able to use the phone camera to take photos of tax forms such as 1099-DIVs is handy but needs work IMO. I wish I could have uploaded/taken photos of all my dox at one time instead of having to open my camera multiple times, open the QR code multiple times, and then take the photos--which then seems to close the app each time.
While I've always done my taxes with TurboTax I will now be switching. They have changed their policy to exclude National Guard members from their free filing. As someone on full time enlisted orders this was disappointing to find out - after filling out all my tax paperwork.
This year really had problems. First - you didn't catch the fact that I had completely missed my foreign bank account in Form 8938 on Schedule B Line 1. Good thing I reviewed. Second - there was no e-filing and there was no "where to mail it" - you just included the advanced payments. Your chat bot couldn't answer any of these questions and just kept teling me it was the first page of your tax return which it most certainly wasn't.
Clunky old software that is only trying to get you to upgrade to more expensive versions. Last year that I will use it. I would rather pay someone to do it than pay nearly as much for an unpleasant experience that still requires me to mail in stuff.
