If I had I filed earlier I would have missed the 20% off offer that I received in an email. This saved me $30, but I would not have been happy had I missed the offer. The offer should be provided while doing the tax return.
Terrible interface, non-intuitive, extremely circular. I got a weird warning at the end to check tax withholding information for my Form W-2G or Schedule K-1, but I didn't have either of those forms. No way to add a designee for the IRS to speak with on my behalf. Just awful software. Won't be using it again.
I have used Turbo Tax for more than three decades, I believe. The REM issues were a little confusing but that is on the source and not Turbo tax. I like doing my own taxes and I feel safe with Turbo Tax.
In my experience with TurboTax, I've been frustrated by what appears to be limited functionality when it comes to importing stock transactions. Despite Charles Schwab being one of the largest brokers in the US, I found that TurboTax seemed unable to import my PDF statements containing stock sales information, forcing me to manually enter each transaction separately - a tedious and time-consuming process. Beyond this specific software limitation, based on my personal experience with TurboTax and publicly available information, I'm disappointed with what I perceive as their business practices. According to news reports Intuit has spent considerable resources lobbying against proposals for simplified tax filing systems. I find it frustrating that in my experience, the tax filing process in the US remains more complicated than in some other countries where governments provide pre-filled forms.
