ONLY One bad Experience in 10 + years

The Process was easy, but the Payment Process gave an option to deduct from Federal Refund or to Pay with Credit Card. Session would NOT accept the Credit Card. An Additional $40 was deducted to have the payment come out of the Federal Refund. ------ A Glitch? Who knows. My ONLY negative experence with TurboTax in 10+ years.

Watch out for dark patterns and deceptive options

I have used TurboTax for years and find it has gotten increasingly deceptive and less helpful over the years. The amount of times it tries to upsell you to products you don't need, and hide the "free" ways to do things like get your refunds under very subtle "more options" links are dark patterns trying to get around people that aren't reading extremely closely.

I like that Turbo tax guides every step of the way and doesn't let me leave things out. Also that I am doing it in the comfort of my homes so that if I have to stop to find a document, I can stop at anytime and do that, even if it takes minutes, hours or days.

The Decline of the Unnecessary Evil

This year, more than any other year, I was bombarded with options to upgrade. I was initially forced to restart based on the inabliity to transfer out of using the Premium Live service, which is wholly unnecessary for my filing needs and the application, in essence, forced me to select when starting my return. Similarly, the requirement to pay $130 to file 1 line on a Schedule D form that totaled less than $50 in reported gains is an absolutely absurd practice and increased my overall expenses for this tax season beyond what I was already paying. If Intuit is going to prevent taxes from actually being made easier for US citizens, then I would at least expect some respect for the individuals that allow them to monopolize an otherwise simple process. I will be moving to a competing product next year up to the cost that I paid with TurboTax this year.

Not as good as it used to be for more money

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and have loved it. This year I had a very frustrating experience trying to order the desktop version so I had to use the on line version. I don't like it near as well. I was not able to just improt the datat from my 2023 return. . Cost more and filled with anoying up buys.
