I have been using Turbotax for over 10 years or close to it by now. It has always been very easy to use and would walk me through each step to make sure of accuracy and to assure the best refund ever!!

BUGS - MORTGAGE INTEREST DEDUCTION CALCS/QUESTIONS

A lot of very vague questions that obscure the purpose and no transparency in Turbotax's calculations or ability to override your incorrect calculations. For example, mixed use mortgage refinancing does not properly calculate the deductible portion of mortgage interest. And in the summaries along the way, such as "Your tax breaks", it shows the wrong mortgage interest deduction even when it's correct in the actual return. In my case, it's higher than the full amount of interest I paid, when it should be lower. It is actually ADDING the total amount of points I paid in the year 2020 to the mortgage interest deduction, even though I've already been amortizing that amount each year (wrong year and duplicating deductions). This cost me MANY HOURS trying to figure out, and a full hour on the phone with customer service. They couldn't figure it out either and suggested I scrap the whole online return and purchase desktop and start all over and then request a refund for the online version, OR pay Turbotax to do the return for me (which again is a lot of re-work and added cost; I don't need that--I'm a CPA and know what the amounts should be but it's impossible to answer your vague questions correctly to get there. After ANOTHER SEVERAL HOURS of just trying to get this one deduction number correct I screenshotted every single screen and input since you can't see those once the return has been filed. This particular deduction is challenging to input every year, but for 2024 you guys really screwed it up and need to fix some bugs!! I'm going to have to figure out different software to use next year as this is a total waste of my time and unreliable.
