Thankful, and I have thoughts

I was surprised to see that there were not separate fees for federal and state filing. I expected to pay double which I was reluctant to use the service because of last year. I think TurboTax did that one year and I vowed not to again. The system is super easy to use, and the $100 or so fee could be too much for someone in poverty, I'm grateful it didn't hurt me too much. Having an low income level qualifying option for a smaller fee would be cool for people like my single parent brother with two little girls. Still, I won't remove a star for that with the hope that the company combined federal and state income filing fees in the spirit of being accessible to everyone. My federal return increased by $400 by using Turbo Tax over a free one on the IRS website. It's a great product everyone should have some kind of access to regardless of adjusted gross income.

Turbotax: we make it easy but we scam you.

First and foremost, I've used Turbotax for a number of years and this is the first time I've realized what a scam you guys are. Secondly, you advertise the "Do it yourself" option as "filing for free" when in actuality you charge $49 for the service. That charge isn't the issue because I understand it's the fee that you pay for the convenience to file online from the comfort of your home. But the charges of an extra $40 (for state filing-- which should be included in the $49 charge btw) and the $30 charge to use MY own money to pay using my refund are manipulative and total bogus. Unacceptable.
