Problem with part-time residency and state returns
on April 15, 2025

from Minneapolis, MN
Failed me in the end--a software glitch. I'm a Washington State resident, but living in Minnesota for school. I selected option to e-file Federal, e-file Minnesota, and "file later" Washington. (Washington doesn't have an income tax, so I believe it gave "file later" and "paper file" as the options.) When I tried to submit, it said that it couldn't complete the transaction because it was unable to e-file one formset. Only by deleting my Washington residency altogether could I get the federal and MN returns to submit. But that's not accurate! I'm actually domiciled in Washington. And TT has successfully e-filed Federal return for me in he past while ignoring (i.e. - "file later") the Washington return in the past. This year, it seems to be confused by the part-time residency in 2 states.
