Long Time User but starting to Feel Disappointed

I’ve been using TurboTax for many years because of its simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. It’s fast, secure, and overall a solid product for filing taxes. That’s why I’ve continued to return year after year.
However, I’ve encountered a few issues, especially this year, that are starting to make me consider other options. First, the constant prompts to purchase additional services throughout the filing process are distracting and frankly annoying. These upsells interrupt the workflow and make the experience feel more like a sales pitch than a tax tool. If something is truly important, it should be offered clearly as an optional add-on at the beginning or end, not in the middle of tax prep.
Second, the product pricing is misleading. I selected the “simple” option advertised at $79, which states it includes both federal and state. But at the end of the process, I was prompted to pay an additional $64 to file my state taxes. This feels deceiving. It seems that the $79 includes preparation for both, but not the actual state filing. That distinction should be made crystal clear from the start and displayed with the same visibility and font size as the main product pricing.
Lastly, the pricing has reached a point where the cost of filing almost wipes out your refund, especially the state filing portion. In my case, my state refund minus the $64 filing fee left me with just $20. I went ahead with it because it was a last-minute filing, but this left a bad impression.
TurboTax still has a great interface and strong reliability, but the aggressive upselling and confusing pricing structure are starting to outweigh the benefits. Please reconsider how these aspects are presented if you want to keep long-time customers like me.
