It’s Always Something With TurboTax…

My savings account paid $60 more than the limit for their free product. Thus my two W-2s and one 1099-INT required me to go from $0 for filing to $150. Wish I could have given my $60 in interest back. After I paid, I saw that this added a total of 5 lines (all that said the same number) and 2 ‘no’ checkboxes to my return.
I know building tax software isn’t easy, but man, where is the middle ground between $0 and $150?! Why do we not have a simple publicly funded way for most of us to do taxes instead of having to feed Intuit and other mega-companies like them all of our personal information for them to profit off of?
Something like this comes up every year I’ve used TurboTax - last year I won $1,000 on a scratcher ticket, and ended up having to give them like $200 (again, cause I couldn’t use free version), plus they didn’t file on time for me or let me know so I ended up having to pay an additional $200 penalty to the federal gov. What a pain.

Quite disappointed. Constant upgrade requests. State fees ridiculous. Multiple issues with action button visible and unable to select. Terribly frustrating. Got it done, but likely will not use again.

Turbo tax feels sneaky

Feels like a scam. Surprise charges come up they have you pay for the turbo tax and then ask you to pay for your due taxes. Will never use again it feels like they just sneak in charges to get every last penny from you

Hidden fees

This is way to expensive a $40 processing fee is crazy and then you find this out at the very last steps. For a company that brags about saving you money on your taxes they sure do love to take your money.
