Product offers free filing but then very obviously makes it borderline impossible to complete. Not only this but the pricing scheme is genuinely ludicrous. Not only do you charge an arm and a leg for every little thing but you charge way more than the original price offered. Ie, saying the price is $88 then charging $95. That's a pretty large difference and I'm inclined to perform a charge back. I will be doing my taxes with pen and paper next year as this was such an awful experience. Hindsight is 20/20, I definitely should not have paid for it.
This has been a job and a half. when I called in for air support tax help was there. Thanks much to all who were on the phone and walked me through this process. All of you were kind and caring with me.
It was difficult to start my return as I had gotten a divorce, it kept bringing up my ex's name and his account because I did his taxes for him with him here, but when I tried to find my name it was not there, so I had to make a whole different account and use a different email address. After my return was finished it was scary to see that it said my acct was "at risk" and that my information was in another account. But I knew why, so I wasn't so stressed. I am hoping that my return goes through with no problem. Also my last name changed so I was thinking making a new account was the best way to go.
TurboTax makes filing taxes incredibly easy with its user-friendly interface and step-by-step guidance. It walks you through the process smoothly, ensuring you don’t miss important deductions or credits. The ability to import W-2s and other documents saves time, and the explanations make complex tax terms easier to understand.
However, the fees can be frustrating. While TurboTax advertises free filing, many users end up paying for upgrades, state filing, or additional services. The costs can add up quickly, especially if you need anything beyond the basic free version.
If convenience is your top priority, TurboTax is a great option. But if you're looking to save money, it’s worth comparing alternatives like FreeTaxUSA, Cash App Taxes, or IRS Free File to see if they better fit your needs.
It was much easier and faster to file this year. I liked the way the software corrected my mistakes as well and I was able to file with identifying a code of letters and numbers to move forward.
