TurboTax is not Free and not worth it.

Every year I have to fight with Turbo Tax to file my taxes. last year they lost all my files of taxes withh "transition" of the new programing and upgrades. The constant rejections is more of a headache over and over as I have battle with why the rejections over a simple error on their part from mising a period, missing a section of files, etc. It is getting to the point that if I have to be "charged" for free filing I will just go the H&R Block to have someone do the filing from now on.

Deceptive Opening Pages, Otherwise Excellent

The majority of Turbo Tax is thoughtfully laid out, is easy to understand, and is user friendly. Unfortunately, it is my opinion that the prompts at the very beginning of the process are difficult to maneuver through and are quite deceptive. They are designed to lead the user into trying the higher-priced preparation option, with an inconspicuous link to the other ways to file at the bottom of the page, far removed from the button for the more expensive option. This tactic, which is similar to the "File for free" claim that you have used for many years, almost made me decide to not use Turbo Tax this year. However, I decided to continue on, once I figured out how to select the version that I needed. The rest of the Turbo Tax was excellent.

You don't realize how much you're paying

Thought it was free, then it told me I was paying $80 about an hour in. Another hour later at checkout it told me that Im actually paying $207. Would've been nice to know so I could use another site. Won't be back.
