I was going along entering my information with no problems. I figured that the standard deduction would be all i needed but since I am retired and have income other than SSA and pretty complicated medical insurance deductions when it came time to decide whether to take the standard deduction or itemize, i decided to see if itemizing my deductions affected my return. Itemizing was going to cost me $49.00, but decided it could be worth the money. Unfortunately, itemizing did NOT increase or decrease my return, but when I went back to change to the standard deduction...I was still charged the $49 for federal and then $39 for state (there was no way to opt out for state). Then when I went to my cart to check out, there was no way to remove the charges. So, i paid the fees with a CC, but then was charged another $25 to send my refund to my checking account via ACH transfer. The verbiage on the ACH transfer selection indicated that there would be a $25 charge IF you wanted your refund 5 days earlier, but then there was no way to select whether that is what you wanted or not. All I wanted was to save a step and have my refund direct deposited into my account...I didn't care how long it would take. Seems to me that Turbo Tax just wants to take as much of your refund as they can get!
