Some "tax experts" that I asked questions to didn't seem to know much about my situation and made it difficult for me to file me taxes the first time. One advised that I restart completely so I did and had to go through the whole process twice.

This was my first time doing my own taxes.It was fairly smooth. I did run into a few snags which I think were more the 1099's than the software but eventually worked them out. Would use you again next year for sure.
