As a long-time customer, I have historically appreciated the ease of use and features offered by your software. However, my recent experience has prompted me to reconsider using your services in the future. Specifically, I am concerned about the following issues: Elimination of Early Refund Options: I previously valued the option to receive an early refund through an Intuit bank. The removal of this feature is a significant loss for me. Misleading Add-on Pricing: I was presented with an optional add-on costing $31, which was purported to generate an additional $86 in my refund. This claim proved to be inaccurate, as the inclusion of the add-on did not result in any discernible difference to my refund amount. I find this practice to be misleading and potentially deceptive. Automatic Payment Deduction from Refund: I am also troubled by the automatic deduction of fees from my refund, particularly for the aforementioned add-on and a separate $40 processing fee. While I understand that this is presented as a convenience, I believe it is implemented in a way that obscures the true cost of the service and facilitates the purchase of unnecessary add-ons. The phrasing used, "out of ease so you don't have to pull out your card," feels manipulative and designed to encourage purchases without careful consideration. These changes have significantly diminished my trust in TurboTax. I am disappointed by what appears to be a shift towards prioritizing profit maximization over customer value and transparency. I will be exploring alternative tax preparation software that offers comparable functionality without these concerning practices.
I have used Turbotax several times before but it's absolutely ridiculous that I HAVE to upgrade to deluxe because of 1 1099-R. That service is 79 bucks. Then on top of that because I am not releasing my info, I can't use my return to pay for the services. How convenient. Lastly, the time estimates are extremely inaccurate. I am reviewing everything smartly and not just clicking through, telling me I am going to be done in 33 minutes is diabolical. It took me almost 2 hours. I did however navigate the service well and didn't have too hard of a time filing on my own.
The auto-generated W2s were bad. When it pulled up my W2s and I was almost done filing it, the system said I had an error to fix. I tried it at least 3-4 times. 44 mins took about 2 hours... I had to manually type my W2 forms.
