Deceptive Practices

TurboTax has long been favored for its user-friendly interface and straightforward tax filing process. However, recent experiences suggest a shift towards practices that may compromise user trust. There are prompts early in the filing process that encourage payment for services before I've had a chance to assess my tax situation. This approach is frustrating as I've had yet to understand my filing needs before committing financially. Additionally, I am concerned about the solicitation of personal information not directly pertinent to tax filing. I feel pressured into sharing confidential details or opting into services seeking to redirect portions of my tax refund or involve third-party financial institutions. This practice is deceptive. Given these developments, I will be seeking alternative tax preparation software for future filings. A platform that prioritizes transparency, user-centric practices, a straightforward and trustworthy tax filing experience.
