I encountered unexpected fees during my tax filing process. I should have qualified for a free service, but adding one credit triggered a charge. Additionally, there was an extra fee for using federal payment services, even though I preferred paying with my card. The agent I interacted with was misleading and lacked transparency.
Unless you have a complex tax situation, I recommend using a better free service or filing directly through the IRS. Alternatively, consider consulting a tax professional who can provide better service for the same cost or less. Unfortunately, I ended up paying $105 for a process that only took five minutes, accompanied by poor guidance from an uninformed agent.
