Been using Turbo Tax Intuit for over 10 years. Choosing the option to file it by oneself is actually a great idea cause along the way they let you know what's your best option to get the most refund. And you can alwatys "go back" and change options. And by the end of filling out your federal tax information, on top left hand corner, you can see the amount owed to you or your dues. At this time, you can still go back and make changes.
