Too many upselling screens and very counterintuitive on many of the screens. I also do not like the fact that the product is quick to make you pay for a state income tax return and it is very counterintuitive to delete the state tax return. Again, the upselling is outrageous. I will likely use a different product next year.
I love doing my annual round of "How badly does Turbotax lie about how much it costs to file"
It's incredibly deceptive and subtle. You choose the cheap option becuase your taxes are very straight forward this year. "Only $39 to file for the state taxes, that's not bad at all. I guess I can do that," you think to yourself. But after screen after screen and option after option, you get to the checkout page.
"$150?! Where in the world did that come from?!"
You then review every option you skipped, verifying you never upgraded your selction once. And then it hits you.
There are hidden fees.
Oh you wanted to pay out of your deduction! No problem! We're gonna charge an extra $40 for that but try to be as deceptive as possible with that and hope you miss it.
Anywho, it's insane, I get Intuit is a business and has to make money, but It's incredibly exploitative to the American people the way they do this. This will likely be my last year every filing with Turbotax.
