TurboTax Is not free for everyone :(

I could not file for free. Somewhere along the line it just went ahead and made me use the premium version without me selecting it even though I did not want to pay any money as I have no reason to. When I used the app to force switch to the free version I was told I wasn't allowed to do so. Somehow with the payed version, I had to pay extra for state? I also wanted to pay with my refund, but was going to get charged a $40 "processing fee", which was half of what I was going to pay, about $83 dollars for state and premium. That is an absurd amount of money to process something. I ended up using my card instead. I also had to re-verify my identity multiple times because I did not use TurboTax last year. My boyfriend filed for TurboTax and payed $0 in any fees whatsoever and did not have to verify more than once.
