While using Turbo Tax for my state return this year, I noticed a $10,000 deduction I have never had before. It was entered by Turbo Tax without any explanation. After several hours of research, I found this was a deduction for certain groups of individuals in SC with particular types of retirement (state, federal, IRAs…). I further found out I was due another $5000 deduction while investigating the $10,000 through SCDOR. This deduction was not automated nor did product support know what the deduction was for or how to enter it. I was told I needed a CPA or one of your paid experts. I asked to have my question elevated which it was but I then had to wait almost an hour for a call back. The next representative did know where to enter the information and so Al is well with my filing. However, for other SC folks trying to do their taxes, missing a $5000 deduction per person is significant and not appreciated having to dig so hard for explanation and resolution.
VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! not clear how to sign as surviving spouse ! It is hard enough to lose your spouse and your pathetic instructions has made it even worse . Also your information about how to apply refund to 2025 instructions is hidden,., instead try to force return through products. RRBforms not clearly explained either
