TurboTax has become progressively worse for filing every single year. This year, I had to start several sections over just to avoid losing more to filing fees than I would lose to the government for specific tax situations, submission routes, and payment options. The worst part is that TurboTax has committed themselves to deceptive business practices and will hide these charges until after a filer has nearly finished filing.
My options were to either not report my post-deduction out-of-pocket health insurance expenses, or give the money I would have saved in doing so to TurboTax as a gift because they don't support that option on the next lower price tier. I only noticed the new $40 return-extracted payment method fee after I finished and prepared to submit. Luckily, I still have one credit card that isn't maxed out. However, these new microtransactions constitute an undue burden on low-income filers who cannot front the heavy price tag for a product that becomes unpredictably more expensive every year.
In summary, I had to pay separate charges to file federal AND state, I had to swallow the cost of my post-taxed healthcare purchases to avoid an TurboTax's kleptocratic "premium" upcharge for self-employment situations, and I had to run a credit card just to save myself from a "processing fee" which costs as much as the entire service did back when I started using the software.
If there could be be better explanations on the adjustment gross income in a better form mat because it kept saying mines was wrong until I adjusted it
