its ridiculous that I have to pay to file my state taxes, and that any deviation from the standard requires me to upgrade to a paid filing service

TurboTax was great for filing my taxes the first time. However when my tax situation changed from regular taxes to foreign income earned taxes it was harder to do my taxes for free with TurboTax. I think their services should update to include the Foreign Earned Income (2555 form) option in the free package.
