Better Cost Transparency

Free simple returns are advertised but I somehow get charged every time. Based on the statements under who qualifies for a free return, I should/do and then get to the end and find out I need to pay. Very frustrating.

Beware! Outrageous unavoidable state filing fee

"Pay our high additional state e-file fee or delete your already completed state return." This is new this year, and very scummy. I've been using TurboTax for decades, and I could always print and mail my state return instead of paying an additional state e-filing fee. I will not be using TurboTax in future years. There are many alternatives now.
