they made it better. did not have to scroll up and down most of the time to hit continue (still did for several screening (maddening that we have to scroll) use of phone to photograph forms to download is beyond fantastic and it automatically downloaded my w2.... one i had the control number for one dividend for compushare it downloaded all of them (all the 1099Ds) this ws wonderful. only thing that wasn't easy was deductions part i think you need a short cut... i thought the state sales tax part was outside of the "standard v itemised deduction" so a better explanation... for the last few years I have been entering donations individually and real estate taxes for town and city and sales tax etc knowing that it would total less than the standard deduction so taxes would have been easier if that was clearer.... the filing process was better and easier.... but there were still some prechecked boxes to sell us stuff that I don't like (allow us to opt in, not out please and I was confused when you tried to sell us e-file options rather than offering the free e-filing on the same page, almost opted for the $35 option before I realized it should be free. that was bad.
I like the service and ive been using TurboTax since I was 19 years old but with the economy these days this the first time I was reluctant to do my taxes simply because of the price tag.
