I’ve always dreaded tax season, but using TurboTax online this year was a complete game-changer. The entire process was seamless and surprisingly pain-free.
What stood out most was the step-by-step guidance. Instead of staring at confusing forms, the interface asks simple, plain-English questions about your life. It feels more like a conversation than a math test. Whether it was reporting side income or claiming new credits, the software guided me exactly where I needed to go without any "tax jargon" getting in the way.
The accuracy features provided incredible peace of mind. As I entered my data, the real-time calculations showed exactly how my refund was changing and why. Before filing, the "CompleteCheck" ran a comprehensive scan for errors or missing info, making me feel 100% confident that my return was correct and optimized for the biggest possible refund.

TurboTax works but begs for microtransactions

TurboTax appeared to do things and look for deductions, but it’s not entirely clear what it is doing- perhaps just screen animations to impress you. I was upcharged over basic return because of a form that it claimed I needed, but there was no way to review the form before product selection. Filing should be free and be provided by the treasury service. This seems like rent-seeking.

Why am I paying 79.99 for "deluxe self-file" with your stupid little robot on the side? Stop lobbying against free tax reform. Every screen was an attempt to steal more money from the consumer, 10/10 would not recommend.
