Look out for hidden fees disguised as discounts

I did not like the fact that you are trying to upsell me. You make fees difficult to understand and I had to turn to an AI bot to help me avoid extra fees. I almost got sucked in....twice. You offer some services that appear to be the only cost I'll be charged, or worse, a discounted fee (that's the price to have the cost of your service deducted from my return). It's not on the up and up, and not cool. I appreciate your service, but not the snakey way you try to capture more fees.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

TurboTax to the rescue

It was accurate and it was able to populate screens with my saved 2024 tax return data. It was fairly easy to follow th guidance the online Fed/NYS version provided. Some screens were not easy to find like how to record the cost of the 2025 online version of the TurboTax deluxe version.

I've filed with turbo tax for several years now. I procrastinated this year which cost me but I'm still so grateful for this very simple app that has allowed me to check this very important item off of my "to do" list!

Last year for Turbo Tax!
on March 30, 2026

Turbo tax was very easy to use and would normally recommend, however, this year was I disappointed. Normally I am able to delete my state tax prior to submission because my state has a free filing system. This year I had to pay first and was not given the option to delete the state tax forms. So, I was forced to pay for a service that I did not need because I filed with my state 2 weeks ago. What a way to make extra money off of unsuspecting consumers Turbo Tax. This may be my last year using this system

Thought I was filing for free and ended up with a $128 charge. Yes it's easy, but I think I'll find another option for next year.

Not for seniors who have over $1500 in interest

from Does it matter?
We are seniors. To have charged us $69 because you had to generate a Schedule A is absolute greed. I could see a charge of $10. that would have been acceptable but not a charge of $69. I will not recommend your service to my senior friends. Most of us are paying extraordinary high real estate taxes, high homeowners/auto insurance and high medical costs. It's why we try to file without charge. One extra piece of paper-$69. How do you people sleep at night?
