Bought this as we are packing up the house for a move. If we didn't live 20 miles from Staples it would have gone back the first day along with the 6-pack of tape we bought along with it. It is the most frustrating dispenser ever. The tape sticks on the metal guide or glide and you have to back up the roll to free it so the dispenser will work. NOTHING should be this annoying to work. It takes three hands.

Poorly designed

I have an old tape dispenser that works well. My dad needed one and I bought this. The difference is in the metal guide. On this the guide is about a half inch thick so the tape sticks to it. So you have to get the tape to release from a half inch surface before it moves freely. On the good dispenser only the narrow edge of the guide (maybe 1/10th" thick) touches the tape. So when you pull on the tape it only sticks slightly and then moves smoothly through. How much of that guide comes in contact with the tape is the difference between a dispenser where the tapes moves smoothly and one where the tape catches and has to be pulled free.

Useless - Tape Sticks To Metal Retainer

I have to agree with the other reviewers who report that the tape sticks to the metal retainer. As a result every time I try to use it to seal a package the tape will not roll off the gun but instead gets stuck. Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Product is useless.

tape sticks to the bottom bracket sfter you use it and it is very difficult to tear off another strip.

Not so good

Unfortunately I have to agree with those who give it the thumbs down. If you use it once in a while then you'll be fine. However if you rely upon it every day then you're going to be disappointed with the tape getting stuck on the wrong part of the dispenser and its general not-quite-up-to-snuff performance.
