Good basic player but freezes up constantly

I bought a bd-e5400 two days ago and at first was relatively happy with my purchase. After a few hours the machine froze up in the middle of playback via netflix and wouldn't do anything. It wouldn't play, go back, wouldn't even power off. I had to turn off my surge protector (cut power) to get it to reset. This has happened about 5-6 times since I bought it two days ago.
I've typically been very happy with Samsung products. I own a Samsung flat screen that I am very happy with, but this particular product is not living up to my expectations. I just don't want to have to reset the machine every few hours. It's possible my player is just defective as none of the reviews I've read mention this problem, but I am packing mine up to return it now. I'd suggest paying a little more for a machine that doesn't freeze up.

Had this disk player for almost 6 mos. This is the biggest piece of junk ever...not worthy of the Samsung name.
Constantly freezes on Netflix and needs to be unplugged to reset.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

Simple and Straight-forward

This Blu-ray player works. I consider this to be the hallmark of a positive review that is not stellar. The player is not amazing, is not breath-takingly designed, is not altering my life in any way, but it is highly functional and does what it needs to do without problems.
I suppose that I might feel differently if I were to not already have a Samsung Smart TV, but I don't find that the feature-set of this blu-ray player are sufficient to warrant an increase in the overall rating. If you need a quality player at a decent, but not crazy-awesome price-point. This is probably it. However, if you're already investing in Samsung products for interoperable remote-control use - I heavily suggest this player.
Pros: Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Slow apps

We bought this blu ray player for the Youtube app since we watch a lot of movies from other countries. The app is SO SLOW and unresponsive - yesterday it took us one hour to find a way to watch a video (first it takes forever to type the word, the app is slow, then youtube doesn't find the video we want) - the cell phone pairing worked for all of 2 minutes and then we kept getting a 'failed to pair' message. Finally we set it up with our Youtube accounts and then managed to use a "watch later" feature to find the movie we wanted in the list. We got 1/2 hour into it, and it froze. We gave up and plugged our computer back into the TV. If you want a blu ray player, then this seems like a cheap purchase, but don't buy it for the apps. They are slow and lack too much functionality. It would be more helpful to have a full IE browser - but I fear that would be too slow too.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, slow apps, not enough apps (if they were faster)

Disappointed

As a Samsung supporter, I am really disappointed in having to write this review. Due to the poor performance with the Netflix and Pandora apps, I cannot give the review for these Blu-Ray players I wish that I could. Unfortunately for me, I purchased 3 of these and am now disappointed and stuck.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

This does just what is suppose to do. The only thing I would change is put the controls on the front instead of on top.

Really good product

Wanted a blu-ray player to work with my older Samsung TV and this works like a charm. Easy setup and easy to use. Can't see a thing wrong with it.
