I like dark roasts, such as Timothy's Italian and Parisian Nights Bold. I even like Emeril's Big Easy Bold (with a little extra sweetner to kill the bitter aftertaste). After reading the reviews, I thought I'd try a sample box of Sumatran Reserve Extra Bold Coffee. I also tried Van Houtte Columbian Dark, and Wolfgang Puck French Roast. I didn't particularly care for the Puck. The Van Houtte was okay, and I loved the Parisian Night. I mention this so you have an idea of what my taste is like. Sorry to report, but the Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve Extra Bold Coffee was just horrible. Way too bitter and acidic. Vile is too strong a word, but it the one that keeps coming to mind. I really wanted to support fair trade and organic, but I just can't with this one. I'll take the 4 leftover K-cups into work and have some folks who like strong coffee try it. Maybe someone will like it...
Cons: Unpleasant Aftertaste, Unpleasant Flavor, Unbalanced Or Sharp Acidity

I have probably tried all bold blends available for Keurig and keep coming back to the Sumatran Reserve. It is a great bold blend with a smooth palatable taste. I enjoy it from the time I wake up until just before going back to bed. I really look forward to the next cup. I hope they never stop making it.
Pros: Bold yet smooth taste, Pleasing Aroma, Not Bitter, Exceptional/Interesting Flavor

rich, earthy, low in acid

Day in, day out, this is a brew you never get tired of, and it consistently delivers a rich, full-bodied, aromatic cup. A restaurant owner I know (he knows a great deal about coffee growing, processing, and marketing) says that Sumatra, from Indonesia, has the lowest acid content of any coffee beans. I take his word for that; the taste is what keeps me pouring Sumatra.
Pros: Not Bitter, Pleasing Aroma, Balanced Acidity, Pleasing Roast, Smooth Taste, Attractive Mouthfeel/Body, Exceptional/Interesting Flavor

Needed to change to organic, so this was the first organic coffee I tried. Unfortunately I am not crazy about it. I normally ordered Tully's Italian Robust, which was a coffee that truly tasted like coffee. I drink my coffee black and like it strong. This one was way too weak for me. Made the mistake of ordering 4 boxes . I think I need to go back to non organic. Oh well.

Sumatra produces some of the best coffees in the world, and in general, it's one of my favorite single-origin coffees. But I've had better than Green Mountain's Sumatra Reserve. It's a dark, strong, very bold coffee--no doubt--but it's a bit too much "in your face" for me. There's a general harshness and lack of complexity that I'm not crazy about. Don't get me wrong--it's decent coffee. However, I don't think I'll buy it again. If you like dark and bold coffees, Dark Magic is much better.

Strong, smooth & full bodied - 4.5 stars!

We’ve been drinking Sumatra Reserve (used to be Sumatran, I think) for almost a decade and really enjoy that it’s organic, bold & smooth with a mostly* full body. We drink 1-2 cups per day, don’t like smokey coffees and we both add half & half. Nothing worse than strong coffee that’s thin and watery! We’ve tried other organic dark roasts, but we always come back to this one. The 4 stars and not 5 is because the taste/*consistency does vary, it truly was more consistent/better a few years ago, and pods should be widely recyclable or compostable. Try the six count box if you’re curious, our family still enjoys this!

Thank you for your review. We appreciate the feedback! Also please note that all new K-Cup pods will be recyclable by the end of 2020, joining our already recyclable Laughing Man Blends and Green Mountain Breakfast Blend.

I have drank the same coffee faithfully for over 10 yrs. I didn't like other coffee flavors. I decided to try this the other day and I haven't looked back. I love the taste of this coffee. I have already stalked up!
Thank you for your time and efforts,
New happy customer

Excellent, intense flavor. Prefer it to many other dark roasts I've tried.
