Texture and Color Abound

I really love the finished product. They way the designer captures colors and textures is amazing. It is very Monet looking. While overall and excellent build, it is tough on the fingers with all the little clips. One negative would be the colors are not very clear in the manual, making some parts difficult to discern.

At the age of 60, I have never completed a Lego set or helped my children over the years. I always thought it was too difficult. When I saw that this set was coming out, I knew that I must get it. I have been to Monet's house and seen then painting in person. I was amazed at how easy the directions were to follow and how quick it came together. I had it completed in about 12-14 hours. It is a beautiful and strudy set. All that's left is to find a place to hang it. I'm now hooked on Legos and can't wait to do my next set.

Took forever to put this set together, but it is hanging in my living room and I love it. It's occupying the same place that Van Gogh's Sunflowers did - I hope that lego continues to push the bounds of it's Art line like it has with this set.

It matches everything in my room so well and looks better in person! A little tedious of course and obviously not the type of thing you can play with but I think it’s great as a display piece!

My honest opinion

This is my fourth LEGO Art set, and unfortunately it’s the first one that left me disappointed.
I absolutely loved The Starry Night. In that set, LEGO used the bricks brilliantly to represent Van Gogh’s brush strokes and color movement. It captured the spirit of the painting while translating it cleverly into brick form. In my opinion, that set is in a league of its own.
Sadly, this set doesn’t reach the same level.
First, the build lacks depth. The design feels completely flat, which makes the scene look somewhat compressed. If LEGO had incorporated more elevation or layering techniques to suggest distance, it could have added much-needed dimension to the piece.
Second, the original painting is a joy to look at because all the visual elements and colors are harmonized to create a calm and balanced composition. In this LEGO interpretation, however, the elements feel like they compete with each other for attention. Instead of harmony, the result feels visually busy and somewhat chaotic.
Overall, I think this may have been a difficult artwork to translate into LEGO form. Even with LEGO’s decades of experience and design mastery, this particular piece doesn’t quite capture the elegance of the original painting.
