This is a fantastic, technically challenging build. The mechanism is really wonderful and that was the reason I wanted this set. Not so much for the mini figs, but for the vending machine itself. It's been advised in other reviews that attention to detail is a must or it won't work. I only found one stubborn smudge on the clear section, but everything else is great. Highly recommend!

The building experience is fantastic. Every step produces a new "wow" and the overall aesthetics is spot on to my childhood memories of putting a coin into the slot to get a prize. These are still in use today in all types of settings. I really like the ability to add to the set and change the minifigs.

From the second I saw this one I knew I had to pick it up. I’m a bit young to really have the idea hold much nostalgia for me, but as a fan of Lego and a fan of the sets that have more technical function to them this set definitely peaked my interest. The finished product is super clean and this genuinely feels like one of the sets that Lego actually made sure was perfect before releasing it. There was ONE point in the build process that I was weary of if it was going to be a mechanical issue or not, but it ended up being the part of the mechanism that requires a ‘coin’ in order to turn and push out one of the little mini figures. Two cons for me personally with this set but they aren’t deal breakers. 1. I do wish that you were able to have the minifigures fully assembled in the little ball capsules as opposed to having to have them all in pieces 2. The minifigures it comes with don’t really do anything for me, however, I understand Lego was between a rock and a hard place as they wanted something to fill the little balls with but ultimately if an adult purchased this set the minifigs are just going to stay in the little balls inside the machine on display (so are the actual minifigures really that important or the focus of this set? Not really)

I normally used the paper booklet instructions but early on I found a picture difficult to understand as it looked like I was missing pieces. Once I went to the digital instructions and could rotate the image, I realized I had the pieces and how to connect them. I will now use the digital all the time!
The mechanism worked the first time and the little balls come out easily. After the grandkids get all the minifigures, I plan to fill the balls with candy or other small,items for future fun and continual usage.
I love this set because there is action vs just being looked at. It’s a mix of regular legos and technics type for the turning mechanism.
