This makes it so easy...it looks just like what your professional would do for you. If you forget or miss something it will remind you before you file. I have used it for over 10 years!
I have used the deluxe + state H&R Block software for years and have never had a problem. This year we had nothing but problems with it. We ended up buying this version due to some estate tax filings and it all worked like a charm. Very easy to use. The only complaint I had is that it would not allow us to electronically file our state taxes.
Very good software. Couldn't do my S-Corp taxes myself without it. The software is a bit kludgy in places, and I have had to look up topics myself to get clarification because the help isn't always that relevant, but otherwise very good - and invaluable from a business perspective. (By the way, my expectation on in-function tax help was set by H&R Block for personal returns - the help there is amazing!)
The federal filing interview makes it easy to file your personal federal taxes even if you do not know all of the tax laws. The Michigan State filing was not so straight forward. The tax software acknowledges that out of state residents are not eligible for a $40,000 retirement benefits deduction but then takes it anyway. You cannot override this deduction. I had to add a negative $40,000 on line 27 to offset this error. The tax was then calculated correctly. I filed on paper and crossed out the two $40,000 entries and replaced them with zeroes. This issue was also present last year. The business federal filing was a little more difficult since there was no interiew to walk you through the filing. I did not encounter any issues with the business filing.
