We have a simple case of filing. W2, 1099 Int, 1099 Div, etc. No complicated situations. The software was good. I have been using it for many years. This year, the update server did not work. I ignored in the beginning but before eFile it asked me to update. The server was still down. So I had to download the update software from their site. The software restarted the computer. Fortunately I had saved the return, so no loss except a few minutes.

Very slow system response when reviewing downloaded large numbers of 1099B investment sales. I needed to wait for more than 30 seconds to review next transaction in order to get rid of "!" mark as required for the app.
Just finished filing using HR Block software. Easy, accurate and reliable. Used HR Block for over 10 years. I would not change. Never had a challenge from IRS. E-filing is 1 click.
I have no affiliation with company, received nothing for my opinion and endorsement, just t a normal average satisfied client.
It feels nice placing your trust in good ol' H&R to get your taxes done. The software was easy to navigate. It wasn't super friendly, but close to being helpful. It's exactly what I needed for my small business and personal taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
The Federal part is OK, have been using it for years, but the State (Ohio) is wrong. Business income is exempt from state tax, but H&R Block business income deduction worksheet doesn't work correctly. I tried re-entering the profit and wage numbers, but it won't add them together and deduct them like the free Ohio online form does. I looked at last year's form, and found out it was incorrect also, and I received a smaller refund than I was entitled to. I tried to call H&R, but there was a 30 minute wait.
