The software looks like it's 20 years old and the usability is subpar. I'm confident in it being accurate for my return, but the actual software is hard to use.
hAVE USED THIS PRODUCT FOR MANY YEARS. THIS YEAR HAD A PROBLEM WITH FORM MARRIED VS JOINT RETURN. HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED TO REFLECT TAX CHANGES - PERSONAL EXEMPTION SHOWN AND NOT OPTION FOR QBI
When I had a question about something I wasn’t sure about. I would type a word into the search box and it would direct to the interview and form I needed.
Once again the Premium & Business software met all my needs. The promps are easy to follow and very beneficial to avoid oversights. I've used this product for the last five years and have always been completely satisfied.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
1. Nice product but could be improved. 2. Inability to create a non-deductible IRA via interview. Had to manually override and fudge things. 3. Would be nice to have real integration of business and personal version of Taxcut so 1099Misc recepients could be done on same package. 4. Update process often failed with "inability to connect to server" message on Win10Pro 5. Seemed to frequently crash on updating asking me to update the software again and again. 6. If a value is overidden the software will not allow you to efile. So had to not override, and then send in revised forms with override. 7. Would be better if would auto separate Schedule C 1099Misc income from Schedule E 1099Misc income better, and assume they are from different sources. 8. Would be nice on verification pre-file to have columns for those already address and those that are new, rather than having to look at things repetitively. 9. Undo feature, especially for depreciation on form 4962 would be helpful; or different time points, i.e. save as draft restore point. 10. Despite flaws, I will likely repurchase the product next year.
Program has a few flaws on the one I used, it tends to skip important data that is needed and then in the review it sends you back to make the entries that should of been entered during the Q&A process.
