I've used Turbo Tax for decades and thought I'd try H&R Block because the software to do a trust filing was included with the personal tax filing software. I am not very impressed. In fact, I bought Turbo Tax, just to feel more confident in my results. Turbo Tax was a more exp solution, but it was significantly easier and faster to use.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Block makes a really good program. Used the leading competitor last year and am much more comfortable with Block program. As long as the price stays reasonable I will stick with Block. I am a retired 30 plus year veteran of the mother of all government tax organizations so have no allegiance to any private sector program. I wish state filing fees
were about half what they are since I think the

fees like that. The state fee prompted me to file one of the family returns by paper to avoid the 20 dollar

It's difficult to do this review, because there are essentially two different products involved: the regular software for personal use, and the "business" software, which I use to do the return for a trust. The former, the personal software, is excellent. The interviews are well conceived, easy to follow, and comprehensive. The latter, the business software, seems to me like it was written ten years ago and never updated. It is difficult to use, unclear at many points, and altogether a less streamlined experience than the personal edition.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to prepare

I like using the software. However, 2 years out of the last approximately 20 years my computer has had problems loading the business portion of the software. Both times it has taken most of a month for the techs to get me up and running. They did get it working, however, in my opinion that is way too long. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
