I've been using this product for at least two decades from when it was called TaxCut. I'm generally happy with the product, but I can't give it five stars because of a number of annoyances that I've reported many times to no avail.
For example, I don't use the program's default directories. It would be nice if I could specify to the program where I want it to store things, but I can't and have to keep setting the desired directory.
I also have to go through my many depreciation items and have to re-set the depreciation period year after year. I wish the program would remember those settings as it would save me a lot of time, especially since the tax law doesn't allow me to change the depreciation period. So, why does the program make me declare it every year?
On a related note, I have a couple of pages of depreciation items. When I get to the second page of items to review and finish an item, the program takes me back to the first page of items instead of returning me to the last item I entered. If the "page down" key worked, it would be a bit better. But, I can only scroll the page with the mouse. Again, a waste of my time.
I use an IRS IP Protection PIN. The program did not ask me for that and my return was initially rejected by the IRS. I had to find the correct background worksheet into which to enter the PIN manually. That's an omission from the interview which I hope will now be fixed.

Cons: Time consuming

I like having all business and personal returns in one place but the programs differ in how to enter data, print and file electronically. I have also had major problems with file formats in which it took me hours with support.

I’m a CPA and this software is very difficult to use compared to other software I’ve used. Things that should be simple are not. The state programs are worse than the fed but none are good. I have no idea how non-CPAs can even produce a set of returns with this software.

Every year this program corrupts something. The 2024 tax year shut down my ability to open any other tax year I had on my computer. I was not able to do a single business return and lost all of my information. I am finally switching to another software. I have had enough.
